Free Coffee - Fair Trade Organic Coffee Company Offers Relief in Troubled Economy

Spokane, WA (PRWEB) March 18, 2009 -- Nectar of Life, a leading Fair Trade Organic Coffee (http://www.nectaroflife.com) roaster, today announced they will begin selling Fair Trade organic coffee to the general public at below wholesale cost. In addition to this program, for a limited time, they will be giving away free samples of Fair Trade organic coffee.

Fearing that tough economic times will dramatically affect sales of organic Fair Trade coffee, and thus put an undue strain on hard working coffee farmers, Nectar of Life Coffee has decided to launch a program they call, "Feed the Farmers." Through this program they will sell 100 bags of coffee per week at below wholesale cost. When asked about Fair Trade coffee sales in an economic downturn, Nectar of Life's Co-Founder, Martin Jennings stated, "Fair Trade ensures that coffee farmers receive a fair price for their hard earned crop, and they earn even more if they grow their coffee organically. This premium price results in Fair Trade organic coffee costing more to the end consumer. We fear that people who would otherwise support Fair Trade may turn to less expensive options in these trying times." As a result of these concerns Nectar of Life has decided to offer 100 bags of specially priced fresh roasted organic Fair Trade coffee through their website on a weekly basis. The price point is $5.99/bag, for coffees that usually sell for upwards of $14.00.

Nectar of Life Coffee is a member of the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Fair Trade Program (http://www.crsfairtrade.org), and they will donate 2% of sales to the CRS Fair Trade Fund. CRS works closely with Fair Trade coffee farmers furthering the effort of Fair Trade to help hard working farmers. When presented with the "Feed the Farmers" program CRS Fair Trade Program Advisor Katy Cantrell said, "CRS Fair Trade applauds Nectar of Life for helping us to continue to live in solidarity with Fair Trade coffee farmers during this economic recession. While we recognize the great difficulties experienced by citizens and Fair Trade organizations in the U.S., people living in poverty overseas are affected by this crisis even more. Nectar of Life's creative response to keep Fair Trade coffee a viable option for everyone demonstrates their commitment to helping small-scale coffee farmers in both good and bad times."

Feed the Farmers is intended to help economically challenged consumers support Fair Trade and enjoy gourmet organic coffee at the same time. Wholesalers are not welcome and the maximum purchase per person is 8 bags/week.

Free Coffee - is what Nectar of Life is offering to anyone who refers 3 people to their Feed the Farmers program. Please visit Nectar of Life Organic Coffee (http://www.nectaroflife.com/feedthefarmers.htm), to sign up and receive free coffee.
